-Minimum 5 years working experience in plastic tool development and/or tool design.

-Familiar with plastic tool fabrication processes, various tool steels and parts standards.

*Consults with and provides technical evaluations for other departments. Involved in the calibration, safety, maintenance, and efficient utilization of testing equipment in the assigned laboratory.

*Provides support for External Research Projects.

*May provide guidance in the work of laboratory technicians.

*Will work with test requestors to develop test programs, formulate test protocols, and choose appropriate test equipment. This will include supervision of fabrication, or selection of new equipment as required.

*Experience in mechanical testing (fatigue and static) and in using servo-hydraulic test equipment is preferred.

Education/ Experience Requirements

*A bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline required; MS or PhD strongly preferred.
