POSITION SUMMARY:
Directs and coordinates activities of all hourly employees during a shift in processing materials, repair and or manufacturing products (Coke) and/or steam, in an industrial organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure the safety of all personnel on shift / in the Plant
• Thorough understanding of all Standard Operations Procedures
• Communicating with and be aware of all persons in the Plant and their whereabouts
• Continuous upkeep and update on all safety procedures
• Fully comply and follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the union
• Supervise Crew members, Senior Product Technicians and other hourly employees
• Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products; including coordination of all activities necessary, per Turn, to ensure that batteries and all necessary Ovens are pushed and charged according to the Pushing Schedule
• Report, investigate and communicate all accidents, incidences and problematic issues with the proper personnel
• Prepares operational and staffing schedules to coordinate manufacturing activities, including preparation of overtime schedules, to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
• Per Turn, completes and reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
• Directs the inspection machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
• Reviews and assures compliance to standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards

Makes repairs and adjustments for proper operation and maintenance of operating units, overhead cranes, conveyors, building and mobile equipment.

• Locates and diagnoses trouble and determines material and replacement parts/tools needs and most expedient method of making repairs. Notifies supervision of mechanical/electrical issues, impending delays to units and assistance or material needs for repairs. Notifies responsible parties for safety, environmental and production requirements.

• Repairs, replaces, installs, dismantles, assembles, adjusts, maintains and lubricates mechanical/electrical equipment. Including but not limited to, motors, generators, exciter sets, control panels, relays, interlocking control systems, circuit breakers, static switching units, electronic devices, lighting and distribution systems, communication systems, etc. Performs mechanical work pertaining to the repair, installation and maintenance of electrical equipment.

• Directs and/or works with others on operating units, cranes, conveyors, and mobile equipment. Repairs pneumatic and hydraulic valves. Assists on air conditioning and computer repairs as necessary.

• Understands and applies practical knowledge of A.C. and D.C. electrical principles, high voltage, ladder logic, PLC and basic industrial electronics. Interprets and analyzes electrical blueprints, schematic and wiring diagrams. Lines up power distribution system to meet operating conditions and records meter readings.

• Uses power tools, hand tools, test equipment, conduit bending, instrumentation testing and related equipment in making repairs and installations.

• Performs burning and welding operations as required commensurate with certification/training. Composes required maintenance reports. Answers service calls.

• Loads, unloads and stores/inventories spare parts and materials. Informs other crew members of any unusual conditions and pending work.

• Responsible for initiating and maintaining housekeeping to meet or exceed established standards in job areas and in common areas of plant.

• Responsible for functioning as a team member to meet or exceed coking production schedules.

Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); work near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outdoor weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to work in high, precarious places; extreme heat (non-weather); risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with noise level in some areas high.

2ND SHIFT PRODUCTION TEAM LEADER - The Team Leader works within a production unit and shares ownership for the day to day quality, productivity and safety of the production unit. The Team Leader¿s responsibilities may span across several production units. The Team Leader will provide supervisory leadership in the areas of team building, labor planning, interviewing and hiring, training, achievement of QOS metrics, progress discipline, and auditing of team performance. Position Requirements
1. Assure the staffing level matches product on build schedule. Anticipate demand / product changes and staff accordingly.
2. Assure staff can perform job per standard work plan. Audit frequently.
3. Create production floor build schedule with the help of the buyer/planner. Coordinate all changeovers with the Line Lead. Assure correct tools and materials are available.
4. Be a Plex expert and mentor to all areas of production under responsibility.
5. Develop training matrixes with production trainer and audit compliance. Coordinate with all shifts.
6. Coordinate all document control releases in respective area to include RN¿s, work instruction, set up sheets, scrap logs, SPC, etc. Work with Document Control.
7. Track WC efficiencies for assigned shift and react to line leads shift report to initiate actions for variances.
8. Participate on CAR team with an emphasis on assembly methods and system requirements. Play key role in defining root cause and corrective action and implement all on the shop floor in conjunction with the Line Lead.
9. Complete all operator reviews, attendance counseling, and progressive discipline.
10. Responsible for implementing action items from the focus team meetings to meet/exceed our QOS goals in the area of scrap, productivity, labor efficiency, inventory accuracy, safety, delivery performance, quality ¿ internal and external ppms.
11. Resolve all manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum operational delays.
12. Support, promote and perform in a manner consistent with the continuous improvement goals established by the production unit.
13. Maintain compliance to all ISO and TS procedures and goals.
14. Interface positively with customers.
15. Provide effective, daily, on the floor communication to all team members and across all shifts to achieve product unit established goals for safety, quality and throughput.

The Production Unit is a business within our business and this position has ownership for the performance, including P/L responsibility, and leadership of the designated production teams within the Sintered Specialties Division of SSI Technologies. The Production Unit Leader will ensure the teams are continuously improving their performance and meeting or exceeding targeted goals for key Quality Operating System (QOS) metrics.

Position Requirements

1. Champion the performance of the production teams relative to key QOS metrics; including gross margins, scrap, rework, direct labor costs, labor efficiency, safety, equipment utilization (OEE), on-time delivery, material usage variance, overtime costs, customer complaints, and expense spending.

2. Distribute and review production performance reports that will assist in resolving operational issues so as to ensure low cost production and ongoing customer satisfaction.

4. Lead the continuous improvement efforts for the production teams, including the implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives/projects.

5. Champion the development of annual budgets for the respective departments including staffing levels, expense spending, QOS related metric targets, and capital spending.

6. Participate in the production planning function to ensure optimal development of production schedules and ensure the schedule and associated priorities are communicated to the production floor.

7. Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback for all Team Leaders and Process Engineers within the Production Unit.

8. Lead the efforts of the production teams in the areas related to training system development, performance evaluations, personnel development, quality/safety/environmental system compliance, and supporting HR in creating/managing recruiting and retention strategies.


Professional and Technical Experience and Education

1. Bachelors degree (BS) in a technical field (Engineering preferred).

2. 3-10 years of experience in Manufacturing/Process Engineering within a production environment. Proven track record of accomplishments in the areas of Continuous Improvement (Lean/Six Sigma), product launches, capital equipment purchases and corrective actions.

3. 3-10 years of Production/Operations Management experience with a track record of improving profitability and overall performance for the operation/product line. Experience in this area to include demonstrated hands-on production floor supervision.

The Production Engineer will be responsible for performing engineering assessments of potential customer processes to assist in the development of process, pricing and Gross Margin calculation. Assessments should be performed using the Lean manufacturing approach. The assessments will include an evaluation of the current process and a recommendation of a proposed Alternative Delivery process. Both processes should be evaluated from a time measurement study to determine capacity and production levels. The Production Engineer will also be responsible for the implementation of new accounts, as assigned to you by the company leadership. As the individual responsible for the implementation, they will be responsible for documentation of the ¿best practice¿ methods and training of the associates. The Performance Engineer will also be responsible for the process layout and design, as well as the performance and quality monitoring system. They will also be involved with current customers, evaluating Adecco¿s current processes, using a Lean manufacturing approach, to achieve higher productivity and quality levels.
Duties and Responsibilities:
¿ Travel to new client sites with sales representative to assess client¿s work site and rate job function for proposal to client. Complete Process Chart for current method and proposed method. Evaluate elimination and/ or combination, simplification of steps; reduction of delays and/or walk distances. Complete a department layout of current and proposed work area. Develop current and proposed staffing. Show improvements to work flow and line balancing. Make note of any barriers to productivity and evaluate Alternative Delivery¿s ability to control/overcome these barriers.
¿ Develop standard of work and supervisor strategy. Document work methods. Develop ¿Client Book¿. Standard of work should include flow diagram for training of associates to illustrate best practices for each position.
¿ Document the observed rates, production history provided by client and estimated production rates for Alternative Delivery solution.
¿ Assist in the client implementation start up; provide training and orientation of preferred methods, train site Production Supervisors on Alternative Delivery procedures, systems and management strategies. Assist in recruiting effort with corporate staff and provide training and orientation of preferred methods in English and Spanish to all new Alternative Delivery employees.
¿ Reengineer layout to maximize efficiencies. Develop quality and production monitoring tools utilizing visual basic model.
¿ Develop model for ¿piece pay¿ plan based on individual performance and quality utilizing the established engineering standards and goals with the preferred process.
¿ Provide cost analysis and make process improvements for projects at existing customer sites as needed using traditional time study.
¿ Evaluate and re-engineer work methods and quality at client sites, using Lean manufacturing approach and tools to increase productivity and quality.
¿ Develop site specific Performance Supervisor Key Activity Check List and management strategies.
¿ Utilize statistical tools such as Pareto Charts, Histograms, Cause & Effect Diagrams. Create a Value Stream Map or Flow Diagram of process to identify critical to quality points. Develop Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) of the process being evaluated to quantify impact.
¿ From time to time, work as ¿substitute¿ Production Manager at sites as needed. Manage minute to minute operations. Monitor individual and group productivity and quality. Respond and react to customer requirements.
Education and Experience
¿ MBA or MS in Industrial Engineering or Engineering Management.
¿ 2 years of industrial process engineering experience preferred.
¿ Experience with Six Sigma, LEAN and 5S methodologies.
