ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Primary responsibilities are: • Plans, schedules, executes and coordinates the technical and management aspects of manufacturing engineering projects and activities. • Coordinates activities associated with new product introductions with Research & Development, Technical Operations and Manufacturing. • Develops engineering proposals based on customer requirements and relevant technology. Also prepares capital appropriation requests. • Troubleshoots problems associated with manufacturing equipment and systems. Determines possible solutions to process and equipment problems based on facts gathered and gains consensus on required remediation. • Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining manufacturing equipment, system and layout drawings. • Interfaces with users, peers, and management to ensure appropriate input and integration of local and corporate standards. • Develops, reviews, revises, or approves Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) as required. • Serves on cross-functional teams who address specific problems, facilitate discussion and research, enabling processes to become more efficient, and to build and enhance interdepartmental relationships. • Maintains project schedules and budgets and prepares weekly/monthly project reports. Also participates in development of the annual capital budget. • Performs equipment testing and qualification as required. This includes factory acceptance tests (FAT) plus generating and executing protocols for commissioning, installation and operational qualification (IOQ). • Provides necessary operator training on new equipment and processes. Also provides Maintenance with a turnover packages which include equipment drawings and specifications plus recommended spare parts and PM schedule. • Conduct capability studies and use to quote new prospective business opportunities • Maintain standards for each SKU to ensure that the appropriate standard is applied when work orders are generated. • Conduct and drive daily labor reporting and develop opportunities for cost savings in labor, material and overhead. • Maintenance of routers (production shift targets and manning) through AS 400 system • Perform Miniblitz (Kaizen event) on products running on the floor; Analyze manning and calculate savings and report it monthly • Research and execute cost savings projects for the plant. This includes developing a CER, conducting an ROI analysis and gaining approval. • Coordinate with vendors and facilitate the deployment of the capital improvement project. • Interact with customer on new product lines and provide labor inputs as needed. • Manage line trial projects and provide summary of results and actions needed. • Develop and implement a 3-year strategic plan for capital and process improvements. • Perform other duties as assigned.
DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required for his position.
Education: Requires a four year college or university degree in Engineering or its equivalent.
Certifications: No licenses or certifications are required. Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or other related certification is a plus.
Experience: • Requires a minimum of 8-10 years industry experience (preferably in personal care, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, food or other consumer goods) in a manufacturing technical support or project engineering role. • Comprehensive knowledge of related manufacturing operations, equipment and processes. • Results oriented and able to effectively organize and develop plans; prioritize and execute actions. • Proficient technical, analytical, statistical and organization skills. • Experience conducting time and motion study/line balancing skills • Intermediate or advance level skills with MS Office Suite and main frame software packages, with experience in Data 3 preferred • Effective interpersonal communication skills that can be used to build/sustain business relationships internal customers (i.e., production, maintenance, quality, etc.) and external clients • Ability to provide basic skill level training to employees on a variety of different topics and provide resources necessary to accomplish the task. • Experience with cGMP procedures and knowledge of safety, OSHA regulations • Demonstrate safe behavior and support department/plant Safety goals in a continuous improvement process
