We are in search of a Vice President of Engineering to serve as the lead for an engineering department of a contract design firm that develops complex electronic equipment primarily for the medical control market.

Our client has been in business for over three decades with a state-of-the-art facility in southern Maine. They are creating cutting edge electronic products used in a wide range of industries. The Director of Engineering will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of a small to medium size development team to design products for the company's customers.

Due to the technical nature of the products they produce, this role is heavily involved in promoting new business opportunities and understanding customer requirements. The design team includes members of several disciplines including electronic, mechanical, software, optical and PCBA design.

What you'll be doing:

*Provide leadership to a design and development team.

Receiver: This position is responsible for unloading trucks using pallet jacks and forklifts (as needed), verifying material via RF handheld scanners, and moving material into correct floor, cart or bin locations. Candidates must be detail oriented, proficient on computers, and be able to lift up to 75 lbs. Forklift certification is a plus.

STB Tester: This position is responsible for running the ¿Raptors¿ and/or the ¿Gens¿. This requires loading units onto carts or test trays, plugging them in to the test equipment, and running a computer program that either clears the box of any code, or runs the diagnostic testing. Candidates in these roles must have strong computer skills with the ability to learn new programs, be very detailed oriented, have strong manual dexterity, and be able to self manage themselves. This role requires time management between multiple test systems (ex. loading one tester while another is running). Candidates must be comfortable with standing for the majority of their shift, bending to plug in units, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

Refurber: This position is responsible for cleaning and doing simple cosmetic upgrades to cable boxes. This may include using hand tools (ex. screw drivers or electric drills) to remove/install covers, replacing screens, putting rubber stoppers on the bottom of the units, and some simple cleaning of the units. Cleaning the units involves using blower vacuums to remove dust and dirt, and wiping the units down with an all-purpose cleaning agent (Simple Green). Candidates in this position must be comfortable with standing for the majority of their shift, using RF handheld scanners, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, have excellent manual dexterity, and have a strong attention for detail. This role requires some simple decision making skills because the refurber is responsible for visually qualifying a unit for what needs to be replaced.

Quality Control/ Pack Out: This role is responsible for visually inspecting the units as they come off the line and making sure that they have met the quality standards on the refurbishment process. Once a unit passes the visual inspection, it needs to be placed in the correct packaging (some through a heat tunnel to shrink wrap), and placed in the correct staging area ¿ which may be a particular area on the floor or specific pallet or cart. Candidates in this position must be comfortable with standing for the majority of their shift, using RF handheld scanners, be able to lift up to 50 lbs, have excellent manual dexterity, and have a strong attention for detail. This role requires some simple decision making skills because they are responsible for visually qualifying a unit for distribution to the customer.

Shipper: This position is responsible for preparing pallets for shipment, data entry of delivery information, and loading trucks.
