Purpose of Position:
Under the direction of the supervisor, provide student loan borrowers and other authorized individuals accurate information and responses related to a variety of account servicing questions and activities in an accurate, effective, and efficient manner. Responsible for handling inbound and outbound telephone calls and other communications persuasively and effectively in accordance with federal regulations, corporate objectives, and department procedures and guidelines, as outlined in the Borrower Services Operations Guide. Performance in these functions is to meet or exceed the standards established for the Contact Center Agent-Care position. If assigned as a bilingual Representative, handle Spanish line calls and related activities.

Essential Functions:
1.Actively participate in the retention and attainment of servicing account volume through the consistent delivery of excellent internal and external customer service.
2.Effectively respond to borrowers and other authorized individuals regarding account status and servicing options, online account access and reference tools, payment arrangements, delinquency prevention options/actions, etc. Ask for and accept payments. As required, explain rights and responsibilities to delinquent student loan borrowers, including the consequences of default. In addition to inbound call handling, activities may also include outbound calls and email responses.
3.Communicate with borrowers and other authorized individuals using established procedures to determine the reason(s) for nonpayment or noncompliance, and the ability to meet their loan obligations using the current Borrower Services call model. Use this information to determine a solution that is best suited to the specific borrower¿s best interest.
4.Verify and obtain new demographic information, including email addresses, during contacts with borrowers and others.
5.As required, secure the information and documentation necessary to qualify borrowers for deferment and/or forbearance.
6.Maintain current knowledge of the various programs, deferments, and forbearance options available to borrowers/endorsers.
7.Assist in the investigation of difficult and problem accounts. Follow-up and/or take the appropriate action to resolve the account.
8.Initiate feedback to Borrower Services Supervisor(s) with ideas to improve processes.
9.Document on the system actions taken on accounts and related correspondence.
10.Contribute to a positive work environment.
11.Perform additional tasks related to the resolution and maintenance of delinquent student loan accounts.
